CBERDr. Kimberly D. Whitehead

Dr. Kimberly D. Whitehead currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff at Medgar Evers College. In this role, Kimberly’s responsibilities include Communication and Marketing, College Advancement, Strategic Partnerships, and the College’s Strategic Planning efforts. She also serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) and the Brooklyn Recovery Corps (BRC) Initiative co-lead. As a senior confidential advisor to the president, she manages the complex daily operations of the president’s office. Before coming to Medgar Evers College, Kimberly served as the Vice President and Chief of Staff at the University of Maine (UMaine). During her tenure at UMaine, she led the completion of the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initial Findings and Recommendations Report and served as the higher education advisor to the Governor’s Economic Recovery Committee. During the pandemic, her role expanded to working closely with the University’s Emergency Command Center, monitoring operational requests, and reviewing decisions and messaging.

Kimberly has served in various higher education roles at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, West Virginia State University, Rowan University, Bowie State University, and Shaw University. Kimberly earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Norfolk State University and a Ph.D. in Genetics from North Carolina State University.
