J.P. Sharma, is a senior Professor of Law and Corporate Governance at the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. In the last over 40 years of his academic career, he has held several academic and administrative positions. He has supervised 15 PhDs, 20 M.Phil dissertations, and over 50 MIB/MHROD projects. He has authored 12 books and over 80 research papers/articles published in several national and international journals of repute. His book titled ‘Corporate Governance, Business Ethics & CSR’, has on it review written by Sir Adrian Cadbury who in 1992 gave the world its first code on corporate governance.  He is Visitor’s (President of India) Nominee: North Eastern Hill Central University (2011--14); Banaras Hindu University (2009-12); HNB Garhwal Central University (2009-12), Sikkim Central University (2008-11); and Tripura Central University (2007-10). He is Fellow Member of the ICSI where he is invited to deliver lectures and modular training programmes to the company secretaries in employment. He has been the Chairman of IP College for Women,  PGDAV College and Guru Nanak Dev College under Delhi University. He is Member of Managing Committee of the Centre for Corporate Governance Research and Training (CCGRT), Mumbai. He has been Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the ‘Chartered Secretary’, ‘Executive Chartered Secretary’ and ‘Students Company Secretary’ Journals published by the ICSI. He is on the Editorial Board of ‘Indian Journal of Corporate Governance’ of the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Editorial Advisory Board Member of Asia-Pacific Finance and Accounting Review; Member Editorial Board, International Journal of Enterprise Computing and Business Systems (IJECBS)-Online India. He is Fellow of the Corporate Governance and Sustainability International Group (CGSIG). He has participated as an expert in over 100 national and international conferences/seminars/special lectures/panel discussions and chaired various technical and valedictory sessions. He has widely travelled to countries like USA, UK, Russia, China, Brazil, Republic of Ireland, North Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
