Professor Gregorio Mayers’s

Professor at Medgar Evers College

Gregorio Mayers is an Attorney and Tenured Professor at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York and a Government Relations Professional. Professor Mayers focus area of teaching is on Administrative and Regulatory Law, Public Policy, State and Local Government and Disaster Management.  Attorney Mayers served two-terms as a senior advisor to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg at City Hall where his portfolio included Small Business Services, Capital Projects, Education and Disaster Management. 

During Hurricane Sandy, Mr. Mayers was appointed by the Mayor to the Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency Task Force (SIRR) to oversee the disaster caused by the Hurricane and to develop a comprehensive report.  Professor Mayers has been invited to make presentations on Disaster Management to the new members of the New York State Legislature, Local and Municipal Governments and various business and public organizations on the legal implications on Disaster Management. 

Prior to his tenure at City Hall, he was appointed to the NYC Environmental Control Board, an Administrative Tribunal and policy Board where he adjudicated over 300 Administrative and Regulatory hearings and appeal cases.  Prior to his career in government, Professor Mayers practiced Law in the area of Immigration, Employment and Administrative and Regulatory Law. 

He currently serves on many Boards and organizations including a member of Brooklyn Legal Services Board, Trustee at Great Oaks Charter School, and the Deacon Board Deacon Board of Cornerstone Baptist Church. 

Professor Mayers received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the City University of New York School of Law, his BS in Business Administration from Medgar Evers College and he is a graduate of Columbia University Graduate School Not-For-Profit Program.
