CAMBRIDGE

Education and research dominates the city of Cambridge. Its ancient university, the second-oldest in the Anglosphere, has a world renowned reputation. Remarkable individuals including the likes of Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Germaine Greer and Stephen Hawking have all found Cambridge a conducive environment in which to study. It is incredible to think that some 85 Nobel Prize winners attended Cambridge University. As well as having an illustrious past the city is proud to be at the forefront of innovation with its own cluster of high-tech businesses – Silicon Fen proving to be remarkably successful.

Few English cities evoke the spirit of past and present quite like Cambridge. Located some 50 miles north of London, Cambridge has been an internationally renowned seat of learning for over 800 years with the University of Cambridge having been founded  circa  1209. As a settlement that was the crossing point of the River Cam, hence the name Cambridge, it is rich in history, but is equally forward looking.  For an insight into its contribution to the development of human endeavour one need look further than the city's high-technology centre, known locally as ‘Silicon Fen'.  The University has an especially proud record in attracting the very finest minds and counts some 89 Nobel Prize winners amongst affiliates of the university. All who visit this historic city come away feeling a sense that they have encountered a place redolent of the very best of human endeavour and aspiration.
