Dr. Deepraj Mukherjee
Professor of Economics, Kent State UniversityDr. Deepraj Mukherjee earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration, concentrating in Economics, from the University of Memphis, USA. He also holds an M.A. in Economics from the same university and an M.S. in Applied Economics from the University of Calcutta, India. Before joining Kent State University, he served as a tenure-track faculty member at Waldorf University in Iowa for two years.
Dr. Mukherjee specializes in international trade and business issues. His research has been published in prominent journals, including the Journal of Business Research, Small Business Economics, Management Decision, European Business Review, and Economic Modelling, among others. He is recognized as an excellent scholar of emerging markets and has been invited to be an affiliate member of the Emerging Market Internationalization Research Group (EMIRG) at the University of Sydney, Australia. This group focuses on examining the economic future of various emerging markets worldwide and determining strategies for their international expansion.
Additionally, Dr. Mukherjee is a faculty fellow at the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at Georgia Tech, one of seventeen national resource centers of excellence in international business funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Since July 2017, he has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Business and Economic Development, published in the United Kingdom and indexed by DOAJ, EBSCO Host, ProQuest, and Cabell's Directory. He is also a member of the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Emerging Markets.
Dr. Mukherjee’s work is frequently accepted at prestigious international conferences, such as the International Atlantic Economic Conference, the American Economic Association Annual Conference, and the Academy of International Business. He also serves as a reviewer for journals including Economic Change and Restructuring, Journal of World Business, Journal of Business Research, Finance Research Letters, and Economic Modeling.
Dr. Mukherjee's pedagogical research investigates the role of AI in higher education. This collaborative project, along with colleagues from the University of Akron, focuses on providing professors with clear guidelines and supplementary training on utilizing OpenAI's ChatGPT as a "thought partner" to enhance in-class pedagogy.
