Dr. Deborah D. (Deb) Hazzard is Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Associate Dean for Access, Opportunity, and Community Engagement at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. In this role, she provides strategic leadership for one of the nation’s top-ranked undergraduate business programs, overseeing curriculum innovation, experiential learning, student success initiatives, and external partnerships aligned with the evolving demands of the global marketplace.

A scholar-practitioner with extensive experience at the intersection of business education, economic development, and workforce readiness, Dr. Hazzard’s work focuses on preparing students to be future-ready leaders, equipped with strong analytical capabilities, critical thinking skills, and the interpersonal competencies required in complex, global environments. She has led initiatives that integrate industry partnerships, international engagement, and applied learning into undergraduate business education, while also advancing institutional strategies centered on access, opportunity, and inclusive excellence.

Dr. Hazzard collaborates closely with faculty, senior university leadership, and corporate and public-sector partners to ensure that undergraduate business education remains academically rigorous, globally relevant, and responsive to labor market and societal needs. Her leadership and research interests include experiential learning models, workforce development, economic inclusion, and the role of higher education in driving sustainable economic growth.

She is a frequent speaker and advisor on issues related to business education, student success, and organizational leadership, and she brings a practitioner’s lens to academic conversations about the future of work and talent development.  Hazzard is founder of Strategic Insights Consulting and Coaching, LLC, a global management consulting, leadership development and coaching firm.
